I have a really nice Remington armory 1917 hex receiver.
It seems to be a rare gun.
Let me know what you think.

With your "great" description it is hard to tell what kind of rifle you are talking about. The hex receiver would leave me to believe it is a Mosin Nagant made by Remington. It has moderate collector value because of the hex receiver and it was a Russian service rifle made by Remington. Not knowing the condition the value is ?????

It's worth what someone is willing to pay.

BTW, a hex Mosin in excellent condition is worth around $250.

by looking at the rifle the barrel was cut down and it doesn't have the original stock. The value of the gun is lost. if it had Matching serial# and the original stock. It would be $400-$500. The way it is now about $200-250. This rifle was made for the Russia army under contract but they defaulted on it due to Russian Revolutions 1917. The US Army purchased the remaining rifles and used them for training or for the arming polar bear expedition. The original stock would have markings on the under side to show if it ever entered service.

Sporterized Mosin Nagant.

Remington built them under contract to the Russian government from 1915 to 1918. Rarity is about a 5 on a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being most rare.

However, being sporterized severely cuts the value. In excellent condition, with original stock, uncut barrel, and all accessories it would average $250 in value.

Modified, $125 to $175.

Collectors do not want modified military weapons.

Have Mosins really jumped that much, or is that 'gun show' pricing? I recently picked up a Chinese M44 for $125, thought that was a bit high but not unreasonably so.

Last auction I seen for one like this Remington went for $443, it had matching # and a stock with 2 service stamps on it. Most Mosins I see around me go for about $175, Even the ones at Dunhams. Ammo for these is even getting up in price now. Use to see 500 rd cans go for $90, now its up to $200.

Dunham's by me still had them for $89 in February, when I bought a 'ham can' for $89.

Prices are all over the map at gunshows, with the average around $125, and I see very few clean ones.
