Statistically speaking, the kids in that class have a higher probability of being successful in life because they chose not to do the minimum amount possible in school. That won't end on their graduation date. I know many people in the medical field with "no common sense" that make mine and your paycheck combined look silly. It hasn't held them back one bit. Like kickstand said, money management is learned but it doesn't hurt to be smart to begin with.

You can't "teach" money management in school, you can't force people to do it, it is a learned behavior you should inherit from your parents. It's kinda like saying we should teach morality in school. You either picked up on how to not be a scumbag growing up, or you didn't no amount of high school credits are going to change that.
I used the car example because it was the only knowledge I have of his money management. I have no info on his investments because it's really none of my business
Also, not really arguing with you, this is your line of work so I defer to the master... just being a brewmenn for a few.

I'm not very good at filling up applications, but they teach it in my school, it is a required in the ACT prep class as a junior. They also have mock interviews with real business owners, where they critisize you and give you pointers, which Is quite helpful. Money management and economics are also required classes. It's not like the schools (or at least my school) don't teach them, it's just the kids don't give a shit. Just my .02

You'd be surprised at how many kids i've seen/known that can do advanced math, yet have no idea what their parent's tax money is used for, or how it's paid....etc etc

I firmly believe that ecnomocis/money management and the like should be a required course in high schools and colleges. Maybe they are now in high school but they weren't when I went there and they weren't when I was in community college.

I'm not saying it will immediately solve the nations problems, but it'll certainly help the financial responsibility of say 20-30% of the students
