A kid that works for me had one, claimed it would log every time the traction control kicked in a long with the abs. He did it in the middle of winter so ended up with no discount. Also he drives like a tool all the time.

They can put as much software on it as they want, unless they install hardware to transmit data (after you send the module in) then it is useless for them. They wouldn't be allowed to reprogram your computer to record any data so what would they gain?

what if the software re-programs the OEM chip so that it saves the last 2 minutes of data instead of the last 7 seconds get ready for the self driving car.....it'll not exceed any speed limit, allow you and "freedom", you will have no control and the lawyers will have a field day when one goes bust and an accident happens

I highly doubt they would have been able to do that. They could but highly unlikely.
