Isn't the incentive of any job to : provide for owns self and loved ones? So better skills better ability to provide.
My first job was minimum wage, $1.30 an hour (same as a six pack of coors). Washing dishes in a Mexican restaurant where nobody in the kitchen spoke english and I spoke no spanish. A lot of yelling and pointing. Should that have been been a living wage to support a family on? He'll no. But it was a good job for high school kid to get money for gas, beer and dope.
Everybody has the opprtunity, not everybody get the good jobs.

How so?

Let's say this for example. Guy working at Wendy's gets a pay increase due to the minimum wage increase. Because of that, Wendy's raises their product to accommodate the min. wage increase. Between the product price and min. wage increase, the guy working there can afford buying said products just as he did before the increase.

Now take the guy working for GM. He doesn't get a pay increase, so he is the one paying more when going to Wendy's.

Granted this matter is on a much bigger scale than just the fast food industry, but you get what I'm saying. I know they aren't going to raise the wage for the guy at GM just so he can afford an extra couple bucks when he goes to Wendy's, but you get the idea.

On another subject, why would they want to keep bringing the minimum wage closer to that of a skilled worker?

High school and this past semester of college. We talked and debated for a whole class just on this matter. This was one of the possible outcomes that we as a class along with the teacher came up with. I'm not saying it's the ONLY solution to the min. wage increase, but it's just one.

At least you see the light now, and understand why those with job skills oppose a minimum wage increase.

You have went all over the map on this. Either that or I haven't had enough coffee yet. I think it's the former. Post 83 is what is going to happen. Guys who are in the middle will be fucked. People getting the raise won't notice it because of inflation. Businesses will pay more employment taxes. Obama got minimum wage raised. Republicans are evil. #/endthread.

We do not need to increase the minimum labor wage, mew need the increase the skilled labor wage. Increasing minimum wage has the unintended effect of bringing skilled labor wages down.

I had this same argument on another board with a young Marxist dude.

He couldn't grasp the difference between wages and 'spending power'.

Min wage goes up, prices go up, taxes go up, money left to spend goes down.

As sad as that is, I believe it's true. Now, that's more leaned toward salary workers I would imagine. If you own your own business and set your own rates, then you can adjust that accordingly.
I see where you think you're going with this, but you're wrong.
