Default welding stock Cherokee rear diff. ???

I am thinking of welding the rear diff in my 99 Cherokee, 355 gears, 32" tires. 4.5" lift. Just using it for off road only , gets trailered to the parks. going to use on rocks and trails mostly , I have welded many diff in the past but on big gm models . Will the Cherokee rear hold up for a while ? Or just leave it as is ?

Is it a D35 or a Chrysler 8.25?
The Chrysler is a stronger.

If it is a dana 35 I would leave it open, even then it will still break. Save time and money and put an 8.8 in and never worry about it again. Ask me how I know this.

Your lucky. I bent or broke every part of a 35 numerous times with my 2.5 before I finally went to an 8.8.

Thanks for info guys , it is a d35 . Thanks for the comments as well. Cheap rig $700.00 Cherokee, $200.00 lift , $300.00 lots of variety of tires , custom front and rear bumper (stuff I had laying around ) , orange paint free. Look like this when I bought it.
