I know the fj is not even in the same category as my vehicle, but is the closest thing to it that I can think of.

con's:
-6 spd only available full time 4 ( land cruiser t case, allegedly much stronger)
-visibility
-interior
-IFS
-aftermarket is pretty expensive
-not nearly as capable in stock form (vs. jk)
-less hp than pentastar motor, need for premium fuel.
-Toyota care warranty seems to be a joke

pro's:
-aftermarket support
-Toyota reliability

Looks like you pretty much talked yourself out of it.

Then keep at them to fix it or replace it. If you have had only one dealer look at it try another dealer. Sometimes fresh eye's see things and fresh ears hear things differently.

The Jeeps are pretty reliable... it just sounds as you won the lemon lottery with that one.

I wouldn't list reliability in the pro's for any modern toyota.

I was going to say reputation of reliability, but figured that was good enough. Are you a Toyota guy, or tech? Like I said in my con's, the warranty seems like a joke with mandatory dealer services and the fj forum I have been looking at for month's now seems to moderated by individuals with Toyota's best interest in mind. Has their history of reliability become a facade for them to hide behind? My reason for these postings is to get others opinions and experiences that are not filtered or biased.

Not sure any forum is totally unbiased. I'm sure there are sleepers on most. But I also think posting and reading on them can be useful.
I'd not give up on your JKU yet. I'd push dealer, threaten them with attorney. You could get a lemon FJ.
And FJ's were around when you got your JKU. There most have been a reason you chose it over the FJ.
Could you make a thread and post what happened to your JKU and what has and hasn't been done?
Then update it as things happen?

I honestly love my jk, I just don't trust it. It was an incredibly expensive purchase and has not lived up to my expectations by any means. I didn't start this thread with intentions of bashing Chrysler, I never mentioned the vehicle until asked. Chrysler has been pretty good to me, all things considered. I'm just trying to get some real world thoughts on the fj from a non vehicle specific source. I do understand what you are saying, and I know I will take a huge loss parting with it. I had wanted this vehicle since graduating college but it has turned into a terrible experience.

I bought my FJC new in 08, it now has 75,000 miles and only problem I have had was a front unit bearing that was fixed under warranty. I've leveled it and run 33's and have a little armor. The vehicle goes down the road great and is very capable offroad, I tow a two place sled trailer and an 18' boat with it. I've gotten used to the blind spot. I do not have the roof rack, the one I test drove had it and it made a lot of wind noise. This is my DD, I have a TJ that I drive in the summer.

I'd be interested in hearing an update from @redram98 as well. I'm in the market for a new JKU but an FJ Cruiser is something else I'm considering.

FWIW, "off road" for me these days consists mainly of those times I run over the parking blocks at my office or park partially on the curb at home.

I brought mine out of storage April 1, sat at the dealer for two weeks shortly afterwards. My understanding is all the manual fj's are spoken for as this is it's last model year. I seriously love my jeep, I am pretty certain I just got a bad one. There are several guy's on jko that have had no issue what so ever, and the one's that have usually were head's from the first batch of '12.
