Default Quadrasteer Posi trac slop

I'm getting some slop in my quadrasteer axle. I notice when I shift from R to D, and sometimes during hard braking. It does not appear to be u joints.

I don't know that much about trac lok units (researched that this is what it is). Is it more likely that the clutches are worn out after 190k miles, or the spider gears are actually becoming a problem. I don't notice any axle noise while driving, so I would like to think that it isn't the ring/pinion.

Is it a PITA to do this while the carrier is in the axle under the truck? I know the Quadrasteer stuff will be a pain to remove.
