Check Ohiojeepers.com.

They have regular trail rides in a "quasi-legal" area called "Across The Street" (ATS) or Baumhart (after the road it's on) in Elyria, OH, right off Route 2. Mud, ruts, & hills, similar to The Mounds.

Ohio laws are somewhat different than MI, in that in OH it is very difficult for an "uninvited person" to hold a property owner liable for injuries sustained on their land.

ATS is not for the squeemish.

The land is within the boundries of the city of Vermillion, right on the border with Lorain, Oh. Paraphrasing a Vermillion police officer; It's legal to wheel there until somebody lodges a formal complaint.
Damn, no pics of the hills that are ATS.

Is the mud run behind West Park in Elyria still there? That's where the old ZJ lost her virginity...

It wasn't much more that 300-400 yards of a single mud run made by the local 44" bogger boys.

Your description is right on the money with what I was told about the place. Those guys weren't very forthcoming when it came time to talk about their rigs, or where they wheeled. A few years ago, I crossed paths with one of em at the Autozoo in Lorain. The dude had a monster K5 that was more mud than truck. All the guy would say was that it was his daily driver.

That was pretty typical. There were a couple Sami's and a couple full-sized chevy's in that crowd when I used to hang out down there. They weren't to high on the food chain so to speak. Lots of redneck ingenuity in those rigs. :tonka:
