Default Why remove front DS ?

I've seen a couple ads for wj's on craigslist that mention the front ds has been removed because of a problem with the front axle.

My question is why would the jeep be driveable w/o front ds but not driveable with the front d/s?

Pinion bearing loose
worn out driveshaft
messed up t case

Removing the driveshaft removes lots of places where large amounts of play could be. It also removes the link from the tcase so a problem there isnt noticed.

Im not familiar enough with that particular model to say but there is likely a common problem someplace if this is popping up multiple places.

Ours is out due to a messed up transfer case. Still sounds horrible though. Many of them have a full time 4wd t-bone that is expensive to fix or replace.
