Default new ar build

this is my first complete build. ill let the parts list do most of the talking.

Black forge billet lower
UTG 7 inch free floating quadrail
Anderson manufacturing upper
UTG quadrail gas block
rock river BCG
Magpul Gen 2 Mbus flip up sights
standard a2 charging handle with badger ordinance tactical latch
standard forward assist
standard ejection port cover

i still need to order a barrel once i figure out what i want, i know i want 16 inch but thats all i really know, the gun will be used for plinking no competition or anything like that. any recommendations, i also need help picking out a flash suppressor any recommendations? then the last think i need is my gas tube. is there anything im missing?

Bear creek makes an extremely accurate 16" barrel. Classic arms has them on sale for $69, I think the ss barrel is $99.

the price kinda scares me, something about the barrel costing less than my quad rail just doesnt seem right.

What's the difference in the floating quad rail? I picked up a regular aluminum one at the gun show for $40.

it attaches to only the upper receiver, not to the barrel at all.

I'm from the buy once cry once crowd but if you want more info here's a thread on their barrels.

What is the benefit to that? Less vibration or something? Sorry for the hijack.

When you put pressure on the handguard from your hand or bipod it transfers to the barrel. The free float guard like above attaches to the barrel nut not touching the barrel . If your just off hand shooting or blasting it won't do much for you. Shooting good groups on paper is another thing.

well i figured i will give that barrel a shot, i did a bit of research and didnt really find any complaints, the owner of the local gun shop even said he has a few on his personal rifles. For what i will use the rifle for it should be perfect. thanks for the info on it!!!

Sorry for suggesting a cheap barrel, I recently finished a build and was vary happy with the accuracy. Probably better than my colt and smith and wesson off the shelf guns. ar15.com is a hard website to get a good review from, it seems like if something isn't top end then it gets bashed on. I have no idea what the barrel life will be but I doubt I will ever shoot enough to wear a barrel out. I am a believer in floating the barrel. Have you looked at the rra barrels? I like their 20 ss predator barrels. If your looking for better accuracy out of a 16" barrel check out melonited barrels, they are harder to clean than chromed barrels but tend to hold tighter tolerances. Looks like you have a good start on your ar.

looks like we were posting at the same time, i ended up ordering one. didn't mean to come of like a dick about it just generally if it seems too good to be true it probably is. then i reminded myself that this isnt a comp gun or anything so i figured i would try it out.

I wasn't trying to knock their barrels . Price sometimes has nothing to do with a good barrel . A good friend bought a Model one sales barrel and it shoots right up there with anything I have.
On the AR15 link your right about some of the posters. Its just like this place sometimes you have to know who listen to for serious advice.

No problem, hope you like it. I didn't think you were acting like a dick, just trying to be cautious. I don't post on here much anymore because it seems like people jump all over everything.
