Default Canceling Cable, keeping the wifi's

I think the only thing I'm going to miss is watching Tiger games. Thinking of going with netflix or something like that.

But, is there a way to still watch games that aren't on the local TV airwaves?

You can stream them from the MLB site. For a fee.

And good! I don't have and don't want cable. Internet alone is more then I want to pay.
I have WiFi and Netflix. Most shows I want to watch I can find online. That's good enough for me.

there are sites that you can access live tv streams, but they are kind of annoying to use.

feed2all.eu is one example. there are countless others.

they have mlb listed but i have never had the urge to watch a baseball game, so i can't comment on the quality. the other live sports i watch there have been decent quality. you'll want to use a pop up blocker and/or ad blocker and google chrome.

I haven't had cable/sat tv for 8 years and i don't miss it one bit.

We cut cable 3 or 4 years ago and rarely miss it. I mostly miss NASCAR. I avoided baseball and hockey, which interest me, because of time and I had hoped to find the will power to give up NASCAR and finally dump TV.

We use a couple Roku players, mostly for Netflix and Amazon, plus a Home Theater PC. Netflix is used most often, but be warned that the interface is currently differently between the Roku 3 and the Roku 1 and 2. The new interface on the 3 is nicer in most regards and supports user profiles, but is missing things like "Start at the beginning" (vs. resume).

The Amazon interface on the Roku is a little more clunky, and I have more trouble finding something of interest on there, BUT they do have content that is not found on Netflix. I've found a lot of my non-fiction on there, like America Restoration, Pawn Stars, Modern Marvels. It is frustrating that not everything is free. With Warehouse 13, for example, seasons 1-3 were included with Prime, but 4 was not; now it is. Same with the other shows; you generally have to pay to see newer seasons.

The big bonus with Amazon... free 2 day shipping on Prime eligible orders. We prefer to shop local, but if we need something, that sure beats the hell out of that super saver shipping BS.

FWIW, I used the IR remote from the Roku 1 to teach remote control codes to remotes in the living room and bedroom. We use the programmable learning universal remotes almost exclusively. The only time we wouldn't is if we were to play a game on the Roku 3, where you need to use the bluetooth RF based (Wii like) motion remote.

I use the Roku remote on my phone through my wireless. I have my TV on the network as well so I just use my phone for everything now. It's much easier that way. Roku, Xbox, and TV apps.

We also bought an HD antenna and pick up local channel and even CBC. That was on sale at Costco for about $30 I think.

I have no time and no need for cable. The only current show I watch in Walking Dead anyway. I like seinfeld, but I can find other ways to watch. It's just another thing to tie you down!

we also dumped the cable and are trying to figure out how to watch the tigers. On MLB tv web site it says local games are blacked out. Is anyone using MLB tv and watching home games? I am not sure if I want shell out over $100 and only be able to watch away games.

We use a roku, apple tv, and PS3. mainly watch Hulu+ and netflix. Netflix sucks after a bit because there is nothing new. Hulu+ is nice because most of the new shows come on after a day or so. We still have cable though because the package price makes cable only about $10 more.

You'll need a powerful antenna to pull local channels if you want the main 4. It was 45ish miles for fox and cbs for me.
