I was out on the back deck this morning enjoying some coffee, when I spotted a wood chuck in the woods, ??? with the wind gusting and raining I was a little surprised, he duct in his hole for 15 minutes or so, I got him when he came out. A 95 yard shot through the woods.

I was pretty excited. Aint nothing better than snipping a chuck drinking coffee on your back porch.

I shoot them whenever I can. Use a .22 long rifle. Got one last year and saw another one in the tree line but never got a shot and haven't seen him this year yet. I also pick off the coons in the farmers fields.

Looks like a hoot. What gun/scope combos are you using and what seems to work better?

Top gun is a 22-250 stock Remington 700 . This is the tenth year out here for it. Scope is a Nitrex . Time for a new barrel . Bottom rifle is a Defiance action 243 with Brux barrel. It has a newer 3-18 Leupold.

The last one I shot was in my back yard...about 12-15 yard shot with my .243 using 70 grain federal ballistic tips, picked up each half later with a shovel. He made a mess digging out under my shed and had to go.

I have gotten 9 muskrats out of my pond this year. anywhere from 40-100 yards away with my .17 or my ar15 Depends on what gun my hands get to first. Always while swimming too. :-)

I cleared a pond of muskrats with my .17 a few years ago. That is fun.
