I half agree with what you said though, the other part of me hates this thing because they won't bring it over with the diesel and manual - even though it is built that way oversea's. certify it and throw that fucker on a boat, I think it's ugly but it would get me in the showroom, our H3 is going to need replaced and my wife has a longer drive now.

Being realistic, its a small SUV, likely for people with small families, etc. Probably 50% or better female take rate. Diesel + Stick doesn't make any sense in the US.

How many sticks in general do you see? If you want that, I'd consider moving to Europe. The food's a lot better also.

Thank your government and gas/smog regulations. Though this doesn't even seem as bad as the kl. If it gets good mpg, a little 4x4 with some good options sounds great. Looks the most like a jeep in the line up short of the wrangler, which I guess isn't saying much.

It looks cute. You could fit it in your pocket. That is, if you had fairly large pockets.

I bet the compound of rubber for those tires is specially formulated for rock crawling. They really grab those rocks.

What a joke. I hope they get rid of the "J" title with this one because it's not worthy to carry a true Jeep alpha-numeric title.

You guys better hold on to your CJ's, YJ's, LJ's and TJ's because I think this is the beginning of the end for the last true off-road ready vehicle.

Hopefully Ford will re-introduce the EB like they had concepted a few years ago.

Yea, I'm sure Chrysler will completely do away with their program codes.

Every other vehicle follows a similar code. For example, all trucks are D. 1500: DS, HDs are a combination of DD, D2, and others.

This thing will sell like hotcakes internationally.

It is either the Fiat 520 or Fiat 551. Not a letter designation like the products designed here.

I don't see where its any worse than the Jeep Compass or Patriot.

I'm curious what they will do now that it is Fiat-owned.

Correct on the international sales. I can't wait to see what the projected production numbers one they are posted. Maybe not the 1st year, but definitely the 2nd.

The same as always:

Chrysler programs have letters like RS -> RT -> RU
Fiat Programs usally have numbers like 520, 551, 361, etc.

All the current programs that I see coming in for quote from Chrysler have letter codes. The RU was the last one that I saw, and the JK replacement should be coming soon. We usually see the quotes later than most areas since we have to wait until the interior styling guys figure out what the hell they are doing.

Some of the programs I'm involved in are Fiat based, yet still carry a two letter code.

I've seen them go both ways... These B-SUV / C-SUVs had several names.

All the main Chrysler stuff coming in has been traditional, except for some of the China-Jeep stuff with letter + number...

Sometimes it makes logical progression, like the minivan letter above, or the Cherokee (KL) replacing the last two libertys (KJ, KK).

Then some doesn't make as much sense (LX replacing LX, LD replacing LD, LA replacing LC, etc..).

^ exactly. I haven't seen any new programs announced since the merger. We are still seeing stuff come through from previous platform names that have been in the works for a while.
