Default In-state Motorcycle Weekend

I'm looking forward to summer like the rest of you, and trying to plan out some of my summer vacation times. I've got it in my head to do a road trip or two over a regular / long weekend purely on my motorcycle (weather dependent).

So where are some cool spots around Michigan to go? I know its kind of a broad question, but I'm trying to figure out what I might not have heard of or thought of. This doesn't include SLSD since that's a trailered quad weekend all by itself. No holiday weekends, those are reserved for local lakes and shenanigans. No kids to worry about

Was looking at doing Traverse City, St. Ignace and Sault Ste Marie as some possibilities. Trying to get away from Metro Detroit. Cherry Fest, St. Ignace Fireworks, etc.

Western UP is great. Lots of good roads to ride. Get rain gear if the weather stops you from riding. Its rare rain last long enough or covers a large enough area that a few short hours in the saddle wont get you out of. If rain keeps you home you should find a new hobby.

You could camp at Cycle Moore in Interlochen.

You can start around Bear Lake/Manistee area and run up the West side of the state through TC/Elk Rapids/Suttons Bay/Lelenau/Petoskey/Tunnel of Trees. I have made similar rides many times when I had a few free hours. Lots of nice curvy roads and great scenery.

I enjoy riding around where I live if I just want to relax, Lake City/Marion/Merritt/Manton/KalkaskaMoorestown/Fife Lake. Not much traffic, not too many curvy roads, just lots of nature and farmland.

M-119, M-22, Ta-qu falls area. There's a few runs that don't require riding in a group (your choice), from Hell to Paradise is one that is a riot. Did west coast to Ta-qu falls then east coast to thumb last year in 3 days. Great ride! Lots of day trip choices if you head out west on M59 and grab the county line roads to nowhere special.

Look at the map.

Take any road that looks like a squiggly line.

Remember that the blue squiggly lines are rivers.
