I don't think the obd1 zjs use the electronic trans
I know the obd2 5.2s are hydraulic trans
The 96+ are for sure 42res
Again I'm not positive

93 4.0 ZJ uses a AW4 94 up uses 42RE, 93 5.2 ZJ 46RH 94 5.2/5.9 up 46RE and the AX15 was offered behind the 4.0 in 93/94

I have the 42RE from my '04 WJ if it will fit. Has about 50,000 miles on a complete rebuild with rebuilt torque converter. PM me if interested with a contact phone number.

If i remember right he will have to change a few sensors and the harness inside the trans BUT IT WILL WORK
