Thinking just a smidge out the side to get just a little more purchase on it.

Steel. I was considering epoxy or JB weld, or possibly just welding a little blob onto it and grinding it to shape with a dremel. We'll see.

Me too. I was quietly waiting for someone like Apex to come out with a slightly extended safety for it, but no bueno. I'm not a S&W armorer so I couldn't order the extras, but one of my blog readers who is an armorer came through for me and got me a couple.

I still don't understand why you don't just disable it.

Unless the trigger assembly works differently from the rest of the M&P series, there's absolutely no need for it.

1. How do you suggest I do that? Can't just take it out, it holds the sear pin in.

2. It's a legal thing. I don't want a DA holding it up in court showing how I modified the gun to be "extra deadly", and how I was "wreckless" by disabling the safety.

Show me an actual case where installing a trigger kit, or some other modification to a gun became an issue in court. Also, you're modifying it regardless. A lawyer could use the fact you modified the gun in any way, shape or form against you. You made the safety larger so it's easier to disable.....

I would just keep the thing in the fire position all the time. I'm still not seeing the logic in why you would want to make it bigger and a possible snag point.

Even after modifying it, it won't stick out any further than the slide release.

Did you follow the Zimmerman case? They freaked out over him carrying the gun loaded, so I think it's a valid concern.

The media freaked out....

It didn't change the outcome of the case, and in that particular circumstance Zimmerman had quite a few other things going against him as far as the court of public opinion.

The DA freaked out and made a huge deal out of it.

If you want to remove the safety from yours, go for it, but that's not in the cards for me.

To each their own. There's absolutely zero point in arguing with someone about how they carry a pistol... unless you're one of those fucktards that carries a 1911 in any way other than condition one. "I don't feel safe so I'm going to disable all the safety mechanisms!" Fucking idiots.

Whenever I see someone carrying a 1911, I always look at them straight faced and say "Hey, your hammer is back" just to see what they say.

Mostly they shake their head and change the subject, or walk away.

My favorite part about the dumbfucks who are scared to carry in condition one with a 1911... they will carry a Glock, chambered and ready, with absolutely no worries. Dumbfucks all the way.
