That guys email was proof that those tires weren't available to all contestants in the race, let alone the public. Currie/Savvy could have ran wooden wagon wheels and still won that race though

Somewhere I have a card for Joel at spal fans. I don't know if he was at KOH this year, but I've met him a few times through scooby. I did see him at SEMA in Nov. He might be a good contact on getting you a deal anyways.

Is your radiator up front? I know I could look at the thread...that I've already read once and for got :) If its up front, I would try to keep it there as long as possible...

Thanks for the info on the races you are running. Not sure yet what I'm going to be able to make this year and I'm planning some rec wheelin.

Rosco Racin is meeting in a few weeks to discuss what Tony plans to do this year.

Might need a rocks and valley trip, but not sure my wife is ready for that yet...

Pretty interesting that Currie was the one who protested last year and then does the same thing, regardless of the secret handshake wink wink this is OK. Simply wrong IMO.

Would Currie have won with the same tire everyone else ran? Probably, but when the deck is stacked, it's cheating, plain and simple. No different than Tom Wayes getting 7th instead of first place for Friday's race. You cheat, you get penalized.

Regarding the fan of choice, I don't have a good answer. There are a lot of electric fans out there cooling everything from stock to full race rigs. I say find a good fan that works and have a spare available. Carry it? I don't know. You can't carry a spare "everything" so you have to carry what you can, that makes sense. 3 years of racing the Wag without failure is a pretty good track record. But, JV is different than most situations. Maybe the better answer is to put a bigger fan on the trans cooler that can be used as a backup.

Yes, but he had gotten some fans that are for street rods. He talked with Spal and they pointed him to some fans that are better suited to off road racing.

Our new fans will be Spal in whatever setup we do. Mike has had excellent luck since getting the right setup.

Mac - its a 24*19 dual pass under the hood. It would be nice to keep there from a packaging point of view.

Sounds like a solid effort! Congrats on your accomplishments, to not only build a solid car, but to keep it in one piece.

I found an old email:

Quote:
If you want a fan now 30102082.

The 30102049 or 30102120 fans (curved/straight) do not have a strong enough shroud and you may eventualy break it.
If we find newer info I will update.

What brand radiator are you running. Aluminum or steel?

I was pretty sure once i swapped my 5.3 i was gonna have to put my radiator in back even though i don't want to. However i see no reason i can't fit one that size up front which would be great.

Congrats on your race effort. Must feel good to know that your hard work held together and worked.

We have been running Speedway motors aluminum radiators on the past few projects. They are cheap and seem to be well built. Not premium, but not junk.

On that we disagree my friend. This may actually be the most useful of all the sports. Think about it, when the revolution begins it may be winter and you'd want to be able to ski until you come across a patrol, then shoot them.

Great job DEAK Racing, seems like electric fans ruin the day for lots of people, whether it's competitive or recreational.

Still off topic, anyone know how the Summit Racing brand radiators compare to the Speedway Motors? I suspect they're the same thing with a different sticker, but don't know if anyone has personal experience.

I had a Summit house brand aluminum rad in my 4Bangler....it came in a Griffin box...I was very happy with it, the only overheating issues I ever had were driver error...kept my hot-cammed screaming 2.5L cool with a single OEM elec fan off a GM FWD car. I assume their "house brand" changes from time to time, but at the time I priced the part number that was on my radiator and I had saved significantly over getting the Griffin branded equivalent...I assume it was a cosmetic blem or something.

Yes, you could do that. But most are mounted on a common shroud.

Spal makes different fans for different applications. When I ordered my replacement this spring, I was warned that some models have seals made for offroad, and some do not. Make sure you get the right one.

I have a single 16" Spal and it cools fine.

Try shooting a tiny target with an elevated heart rate sometime. Maybe they should switch it from cross country to mogul skiing.

hmmmm ..... I wonder how long we can derail this thread.
