Yeah, they gave a 2 year advance notice of this. I'm already dreading it.

I'm not happy about it but not a horrible problem. I can take Ann arbor trail to 275 or Middlebelt to either m5 or 94. If I need to go east I just shoot over to telegraph and take 96 were it opens back up.

seeing how I get on 96 at telegraph and get off at Levan, then reverse that route... numerous times per day... I would say this is going to suck.

I hope they do a good job and also include closing of all those bridges in between too.
Then it will be a party.

The project area is tentatively scheduled to be closed on Monday, March 24, weather permitting. During the full closure, both directions of I-96 traffic will be detoured using I-275, I-696, M-10 (Lodge Freeway) and M-39 (Southfield Freeway).

Especially if people try to use the service drive to get around the construction zone

I believe last week 96 got shut down west bound due to a messy accident right at rush hour.

West bound Ford Rd was a parking lot!!!

Be very afraid of this 96 shut down

I wonder if they have thought of the impact it will have on Hines drive. The last year or two the roads have deteriorated easily especially around march/april during the thaw.

I doubt they start until April due to frost laws. It's too costly to operate while there in effect.

This is just the beginning of cutting Detroit loose from SE Michigan, once they close the rest of the freeways they can begin walling it off.

Just a wall or did they budget for a moat of fire too?

Pushed back one week. Full closure now likely to start 3/31/2014. http://www.hometownlife.com/article/...WS10/303030030

For anybody using Telegraph, they'll be working on widening the northbound service drive by the 96 interchange starting 3/10.

They are also planning something fawked up with the Schoolcraft service drive. There are signs up (covered over right now) which have something to do with a crossover. Probably combining east bound and west bound traffic on one side of the service drive. This is going to be a mess.
