bet it'll be a LOT later this year than years past.
Last year during the first or second week of may there was still a good sized pile at the highlands, they took all the remaining snow from all the other hills and piled it up on one hill to have a final rail jam, big air, snowboard/ski kinda party.

It was massive, it didn't make it until july.

I think I am going to put some white tin over a few piles, so that I can have real snow chilled beer for the fourth of July.

The only snowbanks left will be from the lowballing hack plow drivers. The true professionals know how to push it to avoid this issue.

I used to do just that, snow blow much of the yard, and neighbor's driveway to pile up a huge amount of snow in the middle of the front yard. let it sit for a week to compact a bit, then snowblow a hole right into the middle of it for an epic snow fort for my kids.

too damned much snow this year.

In 1978 I do recall snow remaining until late April in Toledo. These were locations where snow was trucked from parking lots and other areas because the large piles took up too many parking spaces or there was nowhere to put it. They were not natural drifts, and were generally in shady areas next to warehouses and the like.

The difference between this January and then was wind - in the blizzard of 78, the wind howled and gave you areas with 1-2" of snow and then a snowdrift 12-14' high.

However, used 4x4 prices shot up and stayed for a while. Every yahoo with a 4X4 put a plow on it (and there were a lot of 1/2 ton/K5/Bronco plow trucks).
heck, I can remember driving in a snowy white out at the end of May back in about 1996 headed up north for one of the first Troll Spring openers... There was lots of old snow in the woods too.

and having a snow pool at the ice cream place I worked at in HP back in 1986 about how long the snow would still be in the parking lot, again, into May.

seeing snow in April, even old snow, is nothing new.

I must be a hack (and i'm certainly not a plow driver), I try to get piles as it reduced the sq footage and the distance you drive off of your driveway.

why are piles bad?

I think I have a bunch of 4x8 sheets of styrofoam, I should put them around a big pile of snow, in the shade, then check on it in July.

What did the farmers almanac say about this winter? I'm always curious to see how accurate that thing is.

I do believe it suggested a cold and snowy winter.
