Do you want to park them transverse or lateral?

If I were making one for myself, I would want to park them transverse so I could make the frame smaller that they park on, and try to use the stake pockets with minimal going to floor of bed... maximize space, minimize crap hanging off the sides...
Are you F***ing with me or did you not read the first post that said

my apologies. I mistook that at the bottom as your signature

I'm curious what they rate the bed rails to handle for weight now...

I am planning on fold down legs that will set on the bed floor I am thinking of making the top out of 2 pieces bolted together as it will make storage not such a pain in the ass

Not bad.

I'd try to keep the width of the rack just slightly longer than the wheelbase of the quad, so you don't have wings on your truck

I have thought about this many time. Drew up plans for a transverse quad carrier. I designed it to sit on bed rail with foam under rack. Put three posts on each side with nuts welded so I could put bolts from the inside the bed into posts to hold it secure. On my chevy it has holes into the stake pockets so it would hold it to truck. Having a dually I came up with ramps that folded to 6' and unfolded to 12' with an arch to clear fenders. No physical evidence just ideas and a couple scribbles

End of story. Only problem I see happening is making ramps that hold up for more than a few uses.. I can't even seem to get the small 4' ramps to last more than a year or so.

How are you loading and unloading your stuff? We have a nothing special set that has been used and abused for 10 years or so.
