About 10-12 mpg. I'd get 9-10 towing my toyota on a flatbed, usually 11-12 empty.

They are like the diesels in that they will eat up the automatic tranmissions.

One of the things is that if you have a serious engine issue, there aren't a ton of parts out there. Towed fine, the rest of the truck fell apart around mine, though. Michigan is very tough on those era dodges.

I have 2 the mileage is not awesome but it's not bad for what your getting the Trans are the weak point unless you get them rebuilt as far as parts there not hard to find but they do get expensive

Mpg' s are better than a 454 and 460 but that's about it.

My advice, don't buy one! LoL. Buy a 12v cummins or 7.3L Ford (1999-2003)

Some things are just better left untouched... v10 dodge engines are in that category. The V10 fords were better, I have one in my Motorhome. But fuel economy in anything V10 is 10-12. My Motorhome surprisingly gets 11

The dodge gets slightly less mpg than my v10 ford.
Expect 11 to 12 mpg tops, on empty flat highway.
Decent motor if u dont care about mpg.

I read somewhere sometime in my life that the Dodge V10 is the worst motor they ever put in a truck for mileage.

I had a 98 v-10, loved the hp/torque, but gas was horrible. around 9 or 11 mpg was what I averaged for mostly city, a little highway.

I would not buy one again, unless it was going to be a work truck, like a plow truck that hauls heavy loads occasionally. I would not tow with it on a regular basis, fuel costs would kill the walled in a hurry

Thanks for the input, I'm sure this impacts his decision to buy a V10 2.5 years ago...

I had a 94 with the big Magnum V10. 8.0l. Got 9 steady before I lifted it and stuffed some 38" tires under it. Went down to 6 steady. I could drive it like a raped ape or grandma and it got 6. In town more like 4. But hey, it had all the power of a Cummins at 1/10 the cost used. My 6.5 turbo diesel was a huge improvement at 20mpg. So if your looking for a cheap 3/4 ton that gets good mpgs and can hadle occasional heavy loads. I will never own another 3/4 ton gasser, but if it came down to it and I needed a reliable 3/4ton for under $5000 and i couldnt find a 6.5l it would be another V10.
