well when you buy all the same shit pot growers use, in a medical marijuana state, you should kinda expect that. 9/10 when they see someone come in and grab the things you did, they arnt growing peppers. Speaking of that one of these days I would like to start growing my own lettuce so I don't have to buy it at the store, always thought that would be cool.

Growing your own food is great. I can honestly say I probably get more enjoyment out of it than I do any other of my hobbies. If you told me 5 years ago that I would enjoy a garden more than jeeps, Harley's and guns I would have told you that you were full of shit

Start small and plant a few lettuce seeds every week starting this spring so that you can get a continuous amount coming in instead of planting all at once and having 20 head one week and nothing the rest if the year.

I always worry that someone will see me buying that stuff and report it to the police and I'll get raided. The press could have a field day with the list of "drug making and terrorist related" items they would find.

I started my peppers yesterday.

Happy little sprouts!

You can really see the difference between the 2 different bulbs.

Brewman, are you using a heating pad under your starters? Peppers like 80-85 degrees to germinate properly.

I'm using a heating pad, but I just checked and in my 55 degree basement it was only getting them up to 75. I'm going to move them upstairs and see if that works better.

I was looking at your selection and it looks like we bought the same Pepper Joe's jalapeno 5 pack. I'n addition I have the Bhut Jolokia and some tabasco peppers.

edit, just checked the soil temp and it's at 80 so it should be OK.

I have mixed feelings about pepper joes. I've gotten a fair amount of mixed breed peppers from them. I'm pretty organized this year and I got seeds from 3 different places. I have kept track of who I got them from and how many I planted. I'm curious to see germination rates and how accurate the strains are between the distributors.

I think I am going to be too hot with the pads and lights. I have to check the temp in a bit and see where I'm at after the light is on for a while.

I have a similar set up to what you have. My bulbs are "wide spectrum" designed for growing under. It's all mounted on a wire shelf unit that could have 3 levels of plants.

I'll be growing tomatoes and all sorts of other things.

I've never ordered from them before. And usually I lose track of which are witch after they get into the garden.

I got atleast 1 sprout of every strain except for the naga morich as of right now. I'm hoping by next weekend to have all the weakest seedlings in each pod snipped. As soon as germination is complete I will take the heat pads away.

I'm hoping after this year I will be able to figure out the correct date to start all the different strains. I'm guessing that I will have some jalapeños before the snow is off the ground
