They don't have my credit card on file. Before I went to pick it up, since it was being provided to me from my insurance company, I called and asked them if I needed to bring ANY money or anything. He said nope, just your drivers license. I showed up and the trainee, new guy, apologized and told me I needed to bring a credit card to get their $100 deposit. I had like $50 on me in cash, so they accepted that.

So they do not have access to my credit card. Which may be a good thing.

I was promised a compact car like a Hyundai accent or a ford fiesta or a chevy sonic. I get there, after the guy on the phone tells me he will have one there for me, and all they have is an F150. I refused that, so they took 20 minutes and rushed and brought a Ford Edge over from another location. This all occured at the close of businesss as well, so everyone was rushing around. The inspection was done in the dark as well with only parking lot lights providing illumination at the car dealership they were located at.

There was a little diagram of the car on the rental form and as I pointed out the stuff I saw, he marked it down....or so I thought. Wrong.

There is also a box marked "no damage" and he didn't select that either so it's like he forgot to fill that section of the form out alltogether. Possibly a sincere accident but nonetheless, his accident is screwing me over now.

When I signed, he put me under the impression that I was signing with the understanding that we had agreed on the damage I had pointed out to him.

This is my first time ever renting a car on my own. It has left a real sour taste in my mouth.

Yes, I brought the car back with the same fuel level in it, or maybe a little above, as where it was when I picked it up, per their agreement.

The part that really = the suck, is that I was supposed to turn this one in for the insurance, and pick up one of my own to rent till friday to drive back to Michigan, and so I had a bunch of my stuff stil in this one. I was left in their parking lot after the close of business with a big garbage bag full of my shit looking like a bum and had to call a buddy to come pick me up.

I guess now I know that I need to go behind EVERY PERSON in my life it seems and make sure they cross their T's and dot their I's and I can't count on ANYONE just doing their fucking job. This man put me under the impression that I was signing off that we agreed on the damage I had pointed out. Instead, yes, I signed, but he didn't mark off any of the damage on the little diagram. Or mark the "no damage" box either. Just sucks. Seems like you can't depend on ANYBODY anymore. Guess I need to check EVERYTHING nowadays.

In this case, its not a matter of them being sloppy and forgetting. Its a matter of car rental agencies have a long history of deliberately scamming their clients.

Im sure plenty of people have been charged to "fix" that same damage in the past. Have them pull records of previous rentals like what was said, and I bet it disappears.

Find an address or contact information for their corporate office and send out a "professional" type letter or e-mail. Leave the "they gave me the wrong car" out of it as it has no relation to the the current situation.

Dont you think it would be as easy as going back to the location that car came from and asking for the records from it being turned in the last time? I would think if that location shows damage to the car already before it was given to you it would be case closed.

Just be super nice to anyone at the other location and make em feel like they are about to be your hero. Some people just love making themselves look better at other peoples expense! Maybe you will get lucky and they will be happy to throw the other location under the bus to make them look better?

Is it too late to set the rental car on fire? Say it was burning when you first got it.
