Default need info on shipping an engine cross country

Has anyone ever had an engine shipped? I am instead in an Ecotec 4 cyl that's is located in Florida and needs to end up in Waterford, Mi. The buyer is willing to crate but not sure how to ship something like this or if the cost will out the way deal.
Any info would be appreciated.

Too save money ship it hub to hub. The seller would have to drop it off at a shipping hub. You would have to pick it up from a hub.

Try this site: http://www.freightquote.com/

You can try getting a quote on uship.com. You enter what and where then can get offers from different companies

Try www.forwardair.com They have locations near almost all major airports. He/she drops off at one of their terminals in FL, you pick up at Flint or Detroit Metro, whatever is close to you. Had an axle shipped by them some years ago.

I used uship.com and shipped a 72 beetle (in pieces/not running so it was the shell and boxes) for $650 from MN to MI. If you are not in a hurry to ship, you can get some really good deals there, especially if its on a busy route.

Greyhound also does packages. they wouldnt do a whole motor in one piece but if you did the heads, then block, then everything like wiring and whatnot it might work.
