I'm trying to find a Christian mocking an atheist movie but no such luck so far.

I think it's a neat book that gives hope to people that may be looking for it. Only God, and the boy, know if it's real or not. I think it's rather arrogant to claim that the boy and his father made up the story because it doesn't fit into your 'belief' system.

I'm going back to bed, the only reason I'm up this early is because fire alarms were going off in our main lodge and i didn't want to call in our maintenance guy. I took it on faith that the cook called out of genuine concern and not just because he wanted attention or companionship in the big scary building.

( I hope you get the subtle sarcasm in my last paragraph.)

Is it also arrogant for me to claim that Sylvia Browne was a liar, a charlatan, and had 0% psychic abilities?

This story interests me just from the viewpoint of:

A) Was the 3 year old being raised in a devout Christian home, a goes to church but little religion outside of church home, or a non believer home?

B) What sort of things were discussed around the boy, but not necessarily directed at him- for instance, did the mom have an emotional outburst on the anniversary of the miscarriage, and the dad was trying to comfort her by telling her the 'baby was in heaven'? The boy could have overheard the conversation and it would be in his subconscious memory.

C) From what I saw in the interview, there was nothing that the child saw in Heaven that was outside of what is taught in Bible School- i.e. you will reunite with loved ones who have passed, you will see Jesus, you will see what your loved ones are doing on Earth... If he came back and said Jesus looked a lot like Bin Laden (Historical Jesus would likely bear a resemblance) would this have been a story the got told?

One definition of belief is 'seeing what you want to see'.

Thank you.

So, in this case- a surprise would be if the boy had a NDE and did NOT see Jesus.

BTW, I am not going to call bullshit on the story. If the family believes in heaven, and believes their son saw Jesus, no harm no foul.

Reading the book gives you more than an interview. Having a concept of Christian life as a family would also help.
So Mike, your half way there.

I think it would be if you had no proof that she was a fraud.

I think the imporant part that most Christians get from thier story is the encouragment. The kid isn't claiming that Jesus told him to tell the world X. It's hope.

It is also believed by some Christians that once we die and are in heaven our bodies will be perfect. Which means we won't be babies, we won't be old, we'll be healthy. That also goes with the idea that we'll also have a better understanding of everything, including who people are, even if we have never seen them in that 'form'. Granted, that is all, for the most part, made up and backed by 1 or 2 short verses. It gives people, believer or not, hope.
