The worst part of the whole thing is that teachers, especially the younger ones, don't see this as a problem. The last time I had this conversation with someone they told me about a parent teacher conference they attended. The teacher told them that they don't worry about punctuation or spelling too much because everything has auto correct now.

False...I personally know many teachers and none of them feel proper grammar, punctuation and spelling is something that should be over looked regardless if everything is auto correct or not. And I highly doubt any teacher even said that.

Hancho he is only "somewhat north of the D".... They don't have much of the English language left down there at all. So yeah; I'd say they're safe to ride on the auto-correct.

What I hate is when your Superior at work sends out an email to the whole organization with spelling mistakes. Not only are they challenged in the spelling but also too simple to figure out how to run the auto spellchecker before the email goes out...

There's a pretty good chance that if the word is underlined in some colour (Canadian spelling) other than black, there is a problem with it.

Familiar with Lansing School district? My wife and I have been told numerous times by both our kids teachers that right now, as long as they can discern the "intent" of our kids spelling, they will not be corrected. They are in 5th and 2nd respectively and I am going to assume that at some point there will be more accountability for proper grammar. My wife and I disagree with the districts thoughts on this and we make them use the Dictionary.

My 2nd grader is the same. They said spelling the bigger words will come later and just getting them on paper is all they care about now, proper spelling never corrected. It's hard not correcting everyhing my daughter writes, but she reads so much I'm fairly confident she will get the correct spelling eventually.

It sucks at work.....
