Default WJ Quadradrive.... tire shaving?

Hey y'all,

So I've got a cut on the inner sidewall through 1 ply on a tire, and after catching a nail last week I've discovered that the spare I've been carrying around is both the wrong size and the wrong bolt pattern (never needed it in 6 years).

So anyway, I've got road hazard coverage from Belle on my tires, but they have discontinued the series, but have one available, that will arrive on Tuesday.

Problem is, I've got quadradrive, and have been reading that my tires need to be within 3/32 tread wear. My tires start at 12/32, and the other three are right around 7.5/32, if not 7.

How much over the tolerance is too much?

In order to get a 5th tire worked in as my spare, I'm planning on ordering one of these tires from tirerack, who I've heard will shave them before shipping for a nominal fee.

Has anyone used this service? There's mention on their website, but I cannot see anywhere to complete the order. I'm hoping to call and get details on Monday.

Furthermore, anyone in the Southbend area visited them? Do they offer this service in person so I can take the warrantied tire to them for shaving?

Curious if this is really an issue as I've been reading, and if so, if tire shaving is still a 'thing'.

Cheers,
Travis

My father in-law had the same problem. Get it shaved. It will cause problems with your drive train. 3/32 is max you would want to go. My wife had worn tires on her 08 JK. It cause problems. One tire was bald and one was more than 3/32 of it. Had to start it in neutral. Putt 4 new tires on it. Have not had to do it again .
