Default 400-pound high school running back Tony Picard awes in highlight reel

Nov. 17 (UPI) --Tony Picard -- a 6-foot-4, 400-pound running back in Washington state -- has run for more than 700 yards and 15 touchdowns this season.

And he's still in high school.

Picard plays for his school team, the White Swan Cougars, in a town 30 miles south of Yakima. He garnered attention over the weekend after his highlight reel surfaced on YouTube and went viral.

“It’s so much fun to have him go out [on the field] as a captain and see him shaking hands before the game,” Picard's coach, Andrew Bush, told the Indian Country Today Media Network. "They’re just kind of staring, like ‘Oh my gosh, you’ve got to be kidding me!”

Bush said that Picard, "a crowd favorite," will graduate next year, though he has yet to decide where he'll go to school.

“It’s just not going to be as much fun,” Bush said of Picard's imminent departure. “When we come out of the locker room and watch the other team’s heads; they’ll [no longer] turn and look at what they’re going to have to tackle.”

A lot of high school athletes dominate, especially in weak markets. I am guessing Washington State isn't kicking out a huge host or football players year after year.

Put him in Texas or Ohio.

Agreed, I was thinking the same thing. He lumbers up the center of the mass, pushes through a few people, then gets taken down or trips over himself and falls. There are a lot of better players out there who would've skated around the mess without losing their breath.

The only thing less impressive than his high lights, was the high light reel. Lame and lamer.

Trip up his legs and he'll go down every time. He's just big without much athleticism.

We need to be a 5* recruit to judge the quality of a football player now?

Please alert every University across america that their scouts opinions now mean dick since they were not all 5* recruits.

I didn't see any bitching at all. I saw people making a judgement on a video they watched of a massive kid running into the pile and tripping 5 yards later. I mean 5 yards per carry is a great average, but I didn't see anything impressive. He might make a decent Tackle some day.

But, my opinion doesn't mean anything because I wasn't a 5* recruit. Then again, the opinion on those 5* recruits is pretty worthless too, because most of those scouts were never 5* recruits. Says Sol Goode logic.

I'm guessing you are all skinny people and have no idea what it takes to run at 400lbs.
By the amount of yards he's put down so far this year it sounds like his 5 yards per carry is everytime, not 0 yards, then 20 yards, then -10 yards.

Just his size, that's like saying Barry was just fast, or kickstand can ride a bike down hill.

If you are a tackle and you have to try to take down a 400lb guy every play, or have him fall on you, how long you going to last in the game.

I am constantly amazed at how some people get upset over something that has zero impact on their lives.

That was probably the dumbest thing I have ever seen.

It not hard to give a 6"5 fat ass the ball and say he just run straight.

All the other kids are between what 5"2 and 5"8 and 100 and 200 pounds
No kidding he's going to get at least 5-10 yards a carry
