Para, Springfield, or Colt. I've shot the Ruger and Remingtion 1911 versions, and they are pretty decent. The trigger leaves a bit to be desired though.

The only beef with my Sig 1911 is the magazines are total shit. Like most guys I bought some good magazines and havent had any issues.
Most of what Taurus makes is garbage. I can't speak for their copies of other designs, but their QC is god awful.

Yep, customer service leaves a lot out to be desired too. No thanks

I enjoy shooting my SR1911. Put a hundred rounds through it last night actually, feels very nice to shoot.

I have an old PT 945 Deluxe that I like, it shoots good and don't have any issues with. Other than it looks like something someone would carry on Dort Hwy.

I love my smith and 1927 sistema, but have never had my hands on a Springfield or kimber. I did have a Remington for a while and would never buy another. It felt very cheaply built compared to my smith.

Based on what I've read online since getting mine I'd be hesitant to buy one. It's also worth mentioning that mine is a Ultra Carry II, the model with a 3" barrel and no barrel bushing. That may or may not have anything to do with its performance. I've seen a 4" model that had repeated issues loading the round fully, so the slide wouldn't return fully forward and it couldn't be fired. He no longer owns that gun but now has a 5" fullsize Kimber that he loves.

FWIW, I have no experience with the Sig Sauer 1911, but based on my experience with other Sigs it would be VERY high on my list of guns to check out if I were in the market. Springfield also makes nice stuff, but after owning and shooting both I feel that Sig is a good step higher in the quality and performance categories.....price too

Your buddy must have some small, girly hands if a single stack 1911 is too much gun for him
Ya he's just a little guy at like 4 10. Likes his xds better that's still not back lol.

Saaweeeet looking handgun, you're going to love this platform, the 1911 is such a nice pistol to shoot. I personally think it is still one of the most ergonomically designed pistols out there. Don't mess with success. Now go put some rounds down range.

I hate the sights. Put 150 through it. No issues. Gotta upgrade the sights though. They are smaller than my m&p's and hard to see

Rock island armory picked up my full size "Tacical" for 505 out the door.

Bought Masterbeatty his CSP 3.5" for a good price for his mother's day present.

have ran so many rounds ive lost count but its up over 7,000 easy only replaced the recoil spring....witch john browning said 6,000 rounds and youd have to replace it...over 100 years later and he is still right!!!

i carry my full size every day IWB and run it at IDPA and 3guns all the time with 0 issue's.

CSP 3.5"

Full size tac.

Full size "2011" with a light rail.

im a big fan of the RIA great 1911 for the price. they use old Colt tooling in the philippines. never had any issue's with it and if i did Armscor is in AZ and these guns have a lifetime warranty on them.

one of my better 3 gun stages...minus the rifle part ha.

I have a S&W 1911sc and had the same complaint. S&W y uses a special cut ony their dovetail so you are limited on choices unless you recut the slide. I went with MeproLight Tru dot sights, they have the proprietary cut and the tritium vials are placed inside white dots for bright white day sights.
