Default 1996 Grand Cherokee Limited V8 $2500 *Price Drop!*

I bought this Jeep a few years ago with a blown up front axle. I swapped in a good used axle that I bought from a member here, and replaced basically everything under the Jeep in the process.

In the last 10,000 miles it has had:

-Brakes at all 4 corners with new rotors
-All four balljoints
-Every steering part, including gear box
-Shocks
-A/C evaporator and heater core replaced. Has digital climate control and everything works as intended.
-New radiator and cooling system flush
-Bigger trans cooler installed (original was leaking)
-All new hoses and belt
-Plenum pan gasket
-Rocker panels were rusty. They were cut out and replaced. When we did this, we bedlined the bumpers, rockers, and door moldings (they previously matched the body color)
-2" Budget boost (was aligned after)
-American Racing wheels and Goodyear 235's. Nothing special, but cooler than if it wasn't ever so slightly lifted and had stock wheels and 225's, right?
-All of the plastic lenses in the front are only a few months old. The headlights are nice and clear!

The Jeep is overall in really good shape. There's a bit of rust underneath it, on the lip of the hood, and on the corner of the tailgate. Typical ZJ stuff. Nowhere near as bad as I've seen them get. The charcoal leather interior is in good shape with no rips or tears. This is easily the most comfortable highway cruiser I've owned.

The bad:
-Oil pressure gauge is a bit funky. Sometimes it reads properly and sometimes it doesn't. I've verified the pressure is within spec using a mechanical gauge. The motor runs great and I'm 99% certain this is an electrical issue. Might just be a sending unit?

-NP249 transfer case gets a bit sticky in really hot weather or after long trips. I can include a 231 with the sale if it helps. I usually just pull the front shaft in the summer months.

-Needs a windshield.

-a few little cosmetic / nuissance things here and there that don't affect the basic functionality of the vehicle. It's a 96 Grand that's in overall great shape but isn't totally perfect. The bones are good, as they say.

The price isn't firm, but please be realistic. I've easily spent the asking price just in replacement parts over the past two years. I'd prefer cash, but might trade for a fuel efficient DD. I can get more pics on request.

Bump. Winter is coming. Excellent in the snow. Trade me something that gets good MPG or make a reasonable offer!

Not sure how I wrote up that long original post and missed that... I'm at work now so I'll have to get an exact number when I get home, but it's at 19X,XXX. I think it's around 193?

Nice Jeep, wish I had the cash. The price sure has dropped on these things since I was into them a couple years ago. Does the 231 you have match the input shaft length on your 249? Trans shift good?

I've got a motorcycle for sale that probably won't sell this time of year, but if It does I may actually be interested.

The trans shifts like a healthy stock 44RE. The fluid is in good shape.

I haven't had the 249 off of it to compare them, but the 231 I have came from a 98 ZJ, and all of my research says they should be the same. I might swap it in the next few weeks here.

And yeah... As the seller, I really wish the market hadn't crashed on these... I'm setup to lose a fair bit of money on this at the current asking price. If it doesn't sell soon I'll probably park my JK and drive it for a bit so that I can at least get some use out of it for all the money and labor I've poured into it.

Thanks,
Tom
