Default LED Christmas Lights

It's about that time. Who here has LED Christmas lights? Now that they have been out a few years, has anyone had any problems with them? Over half of my incandescent strands are toast and I was going to bite the bullet and switch to LEDs and I am curious as to what brands people have.

I like the ecosmart sold at Home Depot due to the cover that they have that screws over the top of the whole light socket. They also have a 7 yr warranty for anyone that would try to warranty Christmas lights. Theoretically the socket getting corroded would be the cause for these to fail, but obviously all things have a fail point in their life.

I bought a bunch on Black Friday last year that were like a couple bucks/ box. They weren't as bright as I hoped but beats the hell out of running multiple cords to run incandescent c9 bulbs around the house.

I bought some name brand ones two years ago. They sucked. Phillips brand. Filled with water, half thee string went out within a week then the other half went out a few weeks after. Used up all the bulbs it came with. Threw them away. Bought other ones last year and they are still good for this year. I think they are Phillips brand as well but the smaller bulbs than last set. We get the bright white ones that are almost blue. Like HIDS.

LED Christmas lights are all I've had for a couple years. Haven't had a single issue.

Even though I have a billion of the damn things I have to agree about them "not being Christmas lights".

I go all out with the Christmas lights just like my dad did when I was a kid(and still does) and my grandpa did. But, it's probably stupid, I just don't get that same emotional, reminiscent effect when I look at all of the LED's that I remember of Christmas lights being a kid.

I think they look cool as hell, and they sure are a lot more efficient to use, but they just don't feel as warm.

As much as I hate that shit hole most of mine have came from Walmart. Every year they get cheaper. Kmart has some pretty awesome Black Friday weekend sales on their LEDs as well each year. They are usually pretty tough to get, not LCD TV hard to get, but don't expect them to make it through the whole weekend in stock. I've also had good luck with the LEDs from Big Lots. Usually they run a few decent sales.

By far the best deal is hitting a place like Walmart the day after Christmas. I went last year on my way in to work when it was like me, the workers, and 3 other people in the store.

My goal is to someday have enough lights to be able to do the few big pine trees that we have in our yard. Someday...

I think this weekend I'm going to start getting my stuff out and start putting stuff up.

I have been wanting to start switching over but have not had the cash flow to do so. Lights are not cheap.

People in my trailer park have had their LED Christmas lights on for about 3 years constantly. They seem to work great!

I have had the Phillips ones and the Target brand ones. The Phillips ones were junk. All of my Target ones have held up much better over the 4 years we've been in our house.

OK Clark. How's the non-caloric silicon-based kitchen lubricant coming along?

I have had a mixed bag of results. I started converting all mine over at my old house. Every year I have to replace 2-3 strands LED or not. I have actually replaced more LED strands then I did any of my traditional lights when I had them.

The ones when they first came out were junk that I got. The ones I have purchased in the last 2-3 years have seemed decent.

The look all depends on the shape of the 'bulb.' I have a few that dissipate the light in such a way they look almost exactly like the regular lights. I also have some that have that almost offensive look to them.
