Fuel pump install
We replaced the pump assembly in the kids '92.
I could not get the new retainer ring with the new O ring back in.
Ended up using the original ring and O -Ring.
We couldn't get enough pressure on the ring at all three locations to get it started.
Is there a trick to it? Maybe a special tool to rent?
It feels loose and I'm worried it will leak once it gets filled up.
The new retainer ring was twice as thick as the old stamped one, and the new O Ring was a stiffer durometer.

Wow. I did this exact same thing. Couldn't get the new gasket to fit, so I used the old one. Had play, but figured it would not leak. I put it back together, and it leaked. Had to drain the tank, drop it. I ended up sanding the tank down (had some rust) and putting the gasket in super super hot water, and got it to snap back in. That seal held for about 200 miles until I decided to replace it with a fuel cell :/
