Metal 3D Printed 1911

This is pretty cool that they can now do stainless steel printing.

I would like to see the time lapse video of it being printed.

When he did the multiple round tests, you can see the slide was having a hard time returning to battery.

Thats all I noticed about the video.

Pistol may have been dry. A little oil may correct that problem.

I don't see how a printed barrel can stand the pressures.

I think that was one of the parts not made by printing. He said the frame, slide, and the misc items were.

He said the only things that weren't printed were the springs.

I have no idea what's really going on here. That video isn't very informative.

I thought he said he did make the springs, just with a different material? Pretty cool none the less.

A shop my buddy works (rapid prototyping) at has been doing 3d printing for over ten yrs, back then it was done with resin, the piece was printed, put into a special oven under a vacuum with some metal. The printed part would burn up, leaving a metal part in its place...pretty cool stuff back then.
