My cousin in law was born with club foot on both feet. He has been through many surgeries and his ankles are now fused. He is now 35 years old and is in pain most of the time due to compensating for fused ankles. His hips and back bother him because of the way he has to get around. Going up and down stairs is hard on his body. Imagine not being able to bend at your ankles and trying to go up and down stairs. He works as a cable installer so he has to go up and down ladders a lot and this is getting very, very hard for him.

For the most part he was fine up until a few years ago.

So to summarize, the effects of the fusion may not be seen until years down the road.

Default Has anybody had an ankle fusion?

I'm so restricted in my range of motion in my right ankle Dr said my ankle is like living with a fusion now. But a painful one. He claims my back, hip and leg cramps are connected to the way I walk. I try to walk without a limp.
As far a surgery I don't like any either but I think I need this done. I didn't know I had my masses until Dr told me. My ankle I know 24-7. I'm still in a lot of pain from my mass removal and hysterectomy. And I have another sinus infection, do not what a 3 rd sinus surgery. So what's one operation. Also all my test are current so I wouldn't have to have them redone.
This is important with the mass I have by my heart. If I wait all the test to prove I'd could survive, will have to be redone.
I want to thank everyone for there answers, replies.
Thank- you.

I have one pic of my X-ray and one normal! If anyone would like to see.
Of course I could post up my abdominal incision
Would trump the vasectomy thread.;).

Ankle is fused pain meds not here yet I'm be gaining to need.
Knee walker / crutches suck outside. Knee walker nice in house. Already found I needed grab bars in bathroom, I was a little dizzy, and well, need them.
My Dr said that I would be happy and pain free THIS TIME. Said my first surgery was CRAP.
I'm in shock that he said it.

Default Has anybody had an ankle fusion?

Thanks.
Off to Emergancy nurse(s) unable to get my IV port in and all stuff either. They removed one after surgery and weren't suppose to.
Hospital is refusing.

Went to Emergancy in Cadillac, after many phone calls and back and forth hospital put it in.
Male nurse did it first try. Another nurse then was going to hook up pump, but hospital back paddled and wouldn't. Home care nurse had to return, 12:00am when I finally got pain meds. I was suppose to have at 1:30pm.
And it was home nurse's birthday. She was yelled at by her boss for my going to hospital.
But that's what we were told to do. They wanted me to go to Emergancy in GR. I refuse to drive 11/2 hours there and back. We were up at 4am and my mother was exhausted. We even had are friend go with use to Cadillac. I didn't want my mother falling asleep at the wheel.
I have all kinds of pain meds and I'm not sure I want to be duped up. I need to be clear headed to deal with all the screw ups.
This was not how I thought my day would have been.

It sucks when they screw up and you end up paying for it.
Praying for speedy recovery and that the pain would be tolerable. Rest up

Sort of. Side effects are constipation and acid reflux. Meds for those are not working. I can only focus my right eye.
I'm having pain even with pump, taking pills again at 12. I can sleep so I'm happy about that.
My friend came over and installed garb bars in tub. I wanted to shower, my mom had to stop me. I can't shower until after pump is removed.
Baby wipes here I come;).
My cat that isn't friendly is my protector, he lays on the bed by me. When someone comes he goes under the bed and growls at them. The nurse said I'm to close to him, I said nope your to close to me.
I'm not sure if I'm making any sense !

My wife gets acid reflux after taking pain meds to. Laying down after taking them is the cause of that. Sitting up fro at least and hour will keep the acid from coming up. Nothing worse that the taste of acid in your throat, hack cough, choke, ahhhh. been there. Tums help a little. As for the constipation, stool softener from Costco. I'd say good luck but luck has nothing to do with what your going through right now. Praying things get easier for you

Eat a fruit cup with every pain pill. It helps with the constipation. If they gave you oxy and you get itchy take a benedryl. I can't think of the name right now but it is a vegetable laxative that works better than the chemical types. It is a lot easier on your already messed up guts. My neighbor has a ton of issues and has get daily skittles party and I get her supplies at the store once in a while if I am going and she is about out. I have learned a lot I hope you feel better soon!!!
