Default Project generation gap 52 m38

This is a project jeep that my grandpa bought back in the 70s and started and never got very far on
Since then it has been moved from garage to garage at least 10 times from what we can count
Well we finically decided it needs to get done so it's going to be my winter project

The motor that's in it is another rebuilt never fired motor that's bored .30 over
As you can see there is a lot of work ahead but it is a complete jeep. The hardest part will be getting all of the parts in one place

I want to find a semi trashed one to make a low COG rig out of...

Well last night I found out that my grandpa bought this in either 68 or 69...
Last night we also started digging out parts
The back seat
And a pair of 2a seat frames with the seat covers on them
Also dug out the steering gear and a like new steering wheel
And the original intake with the water fording stuff on itClick image for larger version

He also found a lot of the plates that bold in the body like the center gauge piece, the glovebox and battery box floors and the wiring rock guard for the drivers rear fender as well as some we can't identify at this point lol
I'm excited to get the rest of the body pieces
The tailgate, hood, fenders, and grill are in the rafters of one of my grandpas friends barn

Overhead cranes are awesome
The motor we pulled is rebuilt .030 over but is dirty and not complete
We are probably going to use the clean complete spare motor and clean and tea sealed trans/transfer case
The trans/tcase that was in it is in good condition other then being dirty and the mouse nest in the bell housing that wrecked the clutch and rusted the input shaft
My grandpa came up with a new clutch, trans mount and throw out bearing so far so It should work

I also found out that he paid $200 for the jeep back in 68/69

So it could be placed on jack stands to be worked in
Last night I removed the pedals because they don't move independently
The clutch frame pivot
And other unnecessary items that were on the frame
I also drilled out and removed the one bolt that broke off in the frame
I also removed the tires
Should be getting fairly close to being ready to paint the frame

I forgot I also got the driveshafts freed up
They were both seized up and we had to press the front shaft apart
But they are both ready for grease and joints now

This weekend I got the braking all redone
I rebuilt and cleaned up the master cylinder with all new parts

I also freed up the pedal assembly
I had to press the brake pedal off of the shaft
The press is becoming a prety common tool on this project
But everything is cleaned up and ready for reassembly
This week I am going to start focusing on prepping the frame for paint, oh boy

removed the skid plate/crossmember
we have been working on getting it sanded down (not my favorite thing)
also my dad had an old school dana 44 that had warn premium lockouts on it
so i pulled them off of that and i have completely gone though and sandblasted and rebuilt and installed one, still one to go
i also ordered the shoes for the rear brakes
i pulled the drumms off of the front and found all new parts
the rear was not the case though, its going to need a complete rebuild and probably some seals
my dad also picked up the original wheels and tires, they still had the nondirectionals on them
hopefully we can get those done before too long too
they are going to get sandblasted and the rivet holes are going to get welded up so we can run the tires tubeless, then some powdercoat

Pulled the rear axle apart

It's a good thing we did because the bearing were bad, one of them fell apart before I could press it off
