Don't move the motor back into the firewall. I did that years ago when I did my first SBC into a CJ5. It sucked working on the back of the engine, getting to bellhousing bolts, changing gas pedal location, heater core & heat ducts, etc. If you want more uptravel in the front and are planning to redo your links, now is the time to stretch it forward.

Thanks guys, I'll consider that. I just like the stance of the truck now and the wheel base, so if I push the front axle forward the 6"- 8" I'd need to to fit the 4 link, the rear axle will have to move too and I'm not too keen on that look, the tires will be into the extended cab or close to it. We will see, maybe I'll just 3 link it and keep it where it all is.

Erin, I'd like to borrow them at the very least to see what I need. I haven't searched anything yet.

When you get to that point set it on a set of springs with a known spring rate and use this:

Or just call me like everyone else does

Could you split the difference? Push the engine back as far as what is practical without getting into the firewall then move the axle forward some as well?

What is your wheel base now?

My engine is about 2" at most from the firewall now, and in reality, without modifying it, I probably can't even move it back at all. Currently my axle sits directly under the 2nd Cylinders ish and to fit anything one or the other will need to move.

A little back story on why I want to do new front suspension last summer I bent my front axle when I bent my knuckle at the Sand lake comp. The best way to repair and keep it fixed is to truss it. With the radius arms, I don't have room to do a proper truss. That is the reason for the 3 or 4 link. I will also be able to gain more up travel during the process. Just gotta decide how I wanna go about it.

And yes my will base is somewhere around 118" and I don't want to go any longer.

I shot for 116-118 and ended up at 121...i was less than excited but it works great.

I know what your saying about things being tight.....my truss and oil pan almost touch at full compression....i am not looking forward to trying to cram a bigger motor in there lol

I am running stock 4 door explorer springs now, they are bent and didn't hold up more than
a couple runs. My previous set were Chevy 1/2 ton springs, 63" leafs, they held up very well and if I were keeping leafs I would run them still.
