I've got a 4.3 in my 4runner that I will be selling once I put my 5.3 in.

That's why I'm going to the 5.3. The 4.3 just isn't enough with the 37's.

Been working on a few things...first up was a used set of diy beadlocks i picked up to replace my old crappy wheels

Next, i finally pulled the trigger on a new power plant....i kept saying i didn't want a v8, but at the end of the day it's the only thing that made sense. Picked up a 5.3....figured they are cheap, easy and common. Working on putting together the rest of the drive train now.

Got all the unnecessary crap tore off the engine today and confirmed it is a 5.3 not a 4.8 ( i had some doubt but it was cheap enough i didn't really care).

Next up is new oil pan, intake, water pump, valve cover and rear main seals

just buy a car intake. Wouldn't that be easier than trying to make it fit? You going with a th350? 700r4? No reason besides I'm curious.

At this point i don't know.

I don't see why the truck intake won't fit so theoretically i don't need to do anything which is pretty easy. Going to a car setup requires new water pump, idler pulley relocate, different injectors, rails, ect....and car parts are pricey compared to truck parts (from what i see)....if it will fit without a lot of fucking around i would like to just keep it all stock truck parts for simplicity sake.

Gonna run 400/205

Thanks.....they worked out great! Just as a random note those wheels were originally 16x7 not 16x8 (it's stamped right into them)

Been doing a lot of thinking and researching.

I don't think the 400/205 is going to make me happy.....i think it will be way too high geared for my driving style....and being that i can't afford to build a 4:1 300 or buy a low max 205 or an atlas and i don't want the length/weight of a 203/205 doubler it left me searching for options.

Looks like i will be going with a nv4500/205 combo....every wheeling rig i have ever owned has been a manual so i guess there is no reason to change now. It will be a far simpler setup, no trying to keep the trans cool, and it should give me gearing that better suits me.
