I remember reading a stat that the state saved $6 million the first year they went to rear only plates, in 1981 I think.

MI license plates ar $2/ea to produce, so multiply the number of registed vehicles times two and you'll see how much this will cost either the state, or drivers to implement.

This is a stoopid idea

Over half (31) require them. The argument you chose to use sucks. Also, you're an idiot for thinking because your vehicle doesn't have the bracket for a front plate it "doesn't have a place" for one.

It wasn't an argument. I just stated the facts.

Default Plates

I am proposing a bill which will make the owner of the car use his cell phone number for the license plate number. That way when a *&&^%^$%$% a## cuts you off you can call him up and tell him how great he drives.

Or linking your license plate to your phone number as purposed 3/4 way down this article.
http://www.annarbor.com/news/opinion/sos-hear-my-plea/

Personally I see being forced to release my cell phone number or email to any organization unnecessary. The last thing I want is to open my phone up to spam from elects.

I can see something like this coming across my not smart phone.

Do you like people who think they are always right and only work 8 hours a day no matter if the best country in the world needs them to work past 5pm?
Vote Obama in 2016
"Third time is the charm"-Barack Hussein Obama

If you would like to stop receiving this message and have your phone number tracked text:
When he was talking change I did not think he meant the dollar

The first car I plated(my 4th car) I painted it to match the Michigan blue license plate color to try to be cool like the manufactures. I liked the blue it is a shame I can not have it anymore.

If they are going to do anything with a "front identification". Let it be a sticker renewed annually. Simply put the initials of the person's name on a sticker colored to match the plate's registration tag.

It would be easy to remember three letters, the cost would be minimal, and it would not need to restrict the air dam or ruin the style of a sports car.

I think everyone is missing the boat. you should ask to change the law so it like boat & sled plates. that way the stickers go up high on the side and you just need a sticker every 3 years. then they could sell trail permits for those roads you travel.

Oh, and cops can easily identify a plate coming at them at 45mph.
Not to mention that there is already supposed to be a reflective surface forward and to the side in the front.

No, he's Howell Jeep. He knows all. He must be right. The car companies must make special versions of their cars to be sold in MI.

I thought each state had it's own version to accomodate the Howell Jew's of each state.

They do. You can order a car with one if you want but most cars that are sold new in MI do not have a front plate holder. If you want one (or are buying one and you live out of state) you have to order a front plate holder.

It's not exclusively MI, but they do it.
