So 9.5% would be roughly $4,000 - $10,000 a year you'd have to pay for a policy to qualify.

Glad I've got insurance through my job. If they were to base my premium on a good year, and then I have a bad year- well, it won't be 'affordable health care'

So much of this wasn't very well thought out.

Therein lies one of the rubs....

Do you pay any part of your premiums that your employer offers? That 9.5% applies to what your employer takes out of your pay towards your coverage.

Yes, I am paying $132/week. That is approx 22% of an after tax 40 hr check. Damn.

So if I don't do what the government tells me to do, I get fined? And if it's not up to "their" standards, I get fined?

What makes that right for them to do?

It's not right but the fools that elected barry and the rest of the that are allowing this to happen. More that 50% of the population do not want the ACA but they are trying to go ahead with it no matter what.
We will wait and see exactly how bad this is for America, the economy and the people. They say some will benefit from this but more will not.

Maybe I missed something, but the Republicans are allowing this to happen because... they are giving in to the Democrats by.... passing their shitty deals like the whole debt ceiling deal the night the government shutdown ended?

Just like everything else government mandated- those that don't use it will pay for those that over-use it.

Obama wants this to fail! The single payer system has been his one and only goal and he is well on his way to achieving that! Insurance companies will fail as a result of this chaos and complexity written into this system that no legislator had the time to read. Obama’s sycophants have public-ally reiterated this fact time and time again.

Maybe I've missed it, but can someone actually tell me..

I have insurance through my employer for myself and my family. Do I have to go on the website, and provide proof that I am insured? If not, how does the government know whether or not I have insurance to decided if they levy their fines against me?

The web site is for people that want to buy insurance through the exchange, so no, you do not need to go there.

But good question about how will they know if someone has insurance. I assume it will be something that gets put on your 2014 (meaning the one you'll file in early 2015) tax return.

1. Projected Cost of the Program will be trillions not millions.

2. Millions will still remain uninsured.

3. You will NOT be able to retain your Doctor or existing plan(Note;Thousands of Insured Citizens have all ready received cancellation notices of their existing plans.

4. Personal Information I.D. Fraud and exposure are exacerbated with the deployment of un-vetted Obama Navigators(Salary-48K and many ex-Acorn facilitators) to recruit participants.

We get a break of 6 weeks to sign up. Hopefully they fix the system so that more than a few hundred can have access to the site or it crashes and they scrap the whole thing.

The are spineless. They were blamed for the whole shutdown thing. if Americans had half a brain they would know that they cannot shutdown the government. That falls onto the sitting administration. The media made sure to blow smoke on that only to confuse the confused. If the don't get there chit together we will see another 4 years of Hillary, nooooooooo

Heard on NPR tonight that you have until February 15 to sign up for Obami-care/insurance or else you owe the fine. This is because there is a 90 day extension from January 1, 2014; but it takes 30-45 days to process the application and for the insurance company to submit the paperwork to the guberment before it is active.
