Default Low oil pressure issue

I have a 1992 c1500 with a 350/700r4 175k on the odometer. On initial startup it has around 40psi at idle and at speed, after it warms up it dips down to around 20-25 at speed and rite on the caution side of the end of the sweep (probably around 10psi with a slight rod knock at idle. I'm thinking I'll put in a high volume oil pump and while I have the pan dropped I'll see if any of the rods feel any looser than the rest and consider a fresh bearing on any suspect ones. Thoughts?

sounds worn out. if you just put a hv pump in it you may run into a oil burning problem do to the pump spraying to much oil on the cyl walls for the rings to keep up with. I would roll new mains and rod bearings in and that should help a lot. you can do all the bearings but the upper thrust main. summit racing has cheap but good main and rod bearing. weld or epoxy the pick up to the pump it will stop air from sucked into the pump.

Time for bearings - you do have sufficient oil pressure, but the fact you are on the bottom end of the scale says you have clearance in the bearing.
