Oscoda

Going there for a wedding this weekend. I'll have some down time and did some searching with not much luck so what is there to do in Oscoda?

Yeah, not much to do there...Especially with the gubmint shut down.. The parks up there, lumbermans monument etc.. are closed. I have a place near there and am up almost every weekend, but I am an old man and usually chill, lol. There is a good mexican restaraunt over in footesite (about 6 miles west on river rd) called desi's. I think my daughter is bringing up a friend and we may go there for dinner Saturday. Lots of forest service rds to explore, just stay on the rds and you'll be o.k. Kevin

This weekend should be good for salmon fishing, either at the highbanks, boyscout camp, or the blockhouse by the dam. There are some fun 4x4 spots in the area.

between october and may, there is nothing to do in Oscoda unless you make friends with someone who lives west of 23, and start cooking meth.

My buddy's parents own this place. I haven't personally been there, but he said they have good food and great beer.

True statement. Anywhere between 23 and 75 is bad for that garbage.

I was going to suggest that place. I went there a few months back and had an excellent burger and excellent beer!

My wife and I went to the Au Sable Inn on the south end of downtown on Labor Day weekend and loved it. Good beer selection. I had fried perch and she had pulled pork and both were fantastic. The waffle fries were damn good too.
Au Sable river is always fun, but probably a little chilly for that. River Rd is a nice drive, lots of forest service roads and two tracks to explore, plenty of camping, etc.

If you are into fishing Van Etten lake can be good. I've caught perch, catfish and pulled a couple 8lb Walleye out of that lake.

Wiltse's is great - we have property about 10 minutes from there and eat there often. Beer is great and food is awesome!
