Dems refuse to talk about keeping the government open. GOP has come up with quite a few options but had the door slammed shut on them. This shut down is all on the dems. They are refusing to talk. It is 100% their way or no way. That is not how it works. Compromising is what it is all about. We did not elect a dictator.

Just my $0.02

The and ...they are good friends. Did you know they play golf together? Did you know they eat out together? And together they are exempt from Obamacare? This is all orchestrated which lines their pockets and gives them a cushy retirement and benefits package while hard-working Americans suffer.

Very simple solution. No budget, everyone is up for re-election within 30 days. They would find a way to agree very fast instead of playing us.

Take you pick. Notice there has been little heard about Syria, North Korea, Russia, Venezuela, Benghazi...

I did see there are Congressional hearings going on over a guy that worked for... The IRS (I think.. it was some agency like that) that stole over a million dollars, claimed he was a CIA operative, and instead of firing him, they let him retire.. Twice.

Yes, the president can change existing laws. But it has become regarded as acceptable that the sitting president has some liberty to decide how laws are enforced, and I'm OK with that.

If Obama was as smart as he thinks he is, he should have held off the shutdown for another year, then he could have shut down the polls and remained in office.....

Maybe he plans on an extended/permanent shutdown. If people cant see the declaration of independence or the bill of rights, maybe they will forget about them?

Yeah, I don't know whats going on with some of this crap but it's pretty stupid.

I can't imagine Obama himself giving specific orders to close specific sites, but I assume that whoever is in charge is working under Obama's orders. If they really are trying to maximize the inconvenience in hopes that people will blame the I think they have miscalculated. If it's a place that never has federal employees around, and suddenly federal employees show up to put up barricades most people will see that as spending more money, not less. I think the would come up looking better appearing to try to minimize the effect of the shutdown on the average American, not maximizing it.

'just following orders'

Where are all the people who said they wouldn't carry out blatantly illegal orders?

Oh, right- they are trying to save their own skin.

Uh, not without going through congress. What's the point of congress passing laws, the president signing them in and then the president choosing which parts of the law he will enforce?

I am specifically talking about all the exemptions he has given in regards to the ACA. It's either law, or it's not.

Wow I sucked at typing last night. I meant to say the President cannot change laws. Sorry about that.

Not to familiar with these exemptions. I've heard claims of exempting unions and such, which I agree should not happen.
