Default A new rifle

Didn't know if firearms was the spot for this seeing I'm not selling a firearm just talking about one but if in the wrong spot plz move it

Back on track I'm looking at getting the savage model 93 shoots the 17 hmr does any one here own one?

If so how do you like it?

I'm looking at getting one for varmint and coyotes and seeing how a box of 50 17 is 15.99 and the gun it self is 269 it's what I'm looking for

Cheap to buy cheap to shoot

Any one have any input on the rifle?

Or other small caliber that fits my criteria

These seem pretty cool for a varmit rifle, but don't think they are cheap.

.17 is much better than .22 mag. I have owned both and I like everything about .17 better.

The savage model 93 is a very nice gun. Here is mine. It's a 93 with laminate stock, stainless bull barrel and accutrigger.

Very devastating for small game, not sure about coyote...I never shot one with it. Very tight grouping and I can target shoot 200 yds no problem in a 3 inch circle with light wind. Not sure what it would do to a larger varmint that far out though.

If you want a little more power but still a rim fire look for a .17 super mag.

The only thing I see about the super mag is availability of gun and bullets. In sure that will pass as they become more popular.

I'm using a Leapers 6-24x56. A little overkill for a .17 but it works awesome and looks cool. Lol

You can pick em up for around $300.

I've seen ammo available for it but not seen the gun itself. IMO the 22 wmr is better than the 17 for everything except maybe Prarie dogs and woodchuck, it's just too explosive on stuff like squirrels and too light for coyotes

I have a 17 hmr and I really liked it at first. It is the savage and it shoots a 3 shot group at 100 yards that you can cover with a dime. I never shoot it any more because the wind kicks it's ass! I would much rather have a 22 mag if I was going to do it over again. Just my .02

I have an older model 93 with a heavy barrel. Good shooting gun after I played with the trigger. Newer models with the accutrigger are better out of the box in my opinion.

I have a Savage 111 (.30-60) and I really like it, accu-trigger is nice. I cant speak to a .17HMR but I am very pleased with savage so far.

Picked this up a while back and am still amazed how accurate it is. Need to buy a silver scope and rings yet. Would buy again, the savage magazines seem a little cheesy but never a problem.

I've got one in left hand with a vx-3 on it.

you have to get used to putting the mag in correctly, but it shoots well:

As a fellow southpaw I'm jealous. I was going to say ruger 10/22 mag with a .17hmr conversion

a .17 hmr for coyote is not enough rifle, ground hog barely.

Ill be adding a bolt action rimfire to my collection after buying a Savage Axis chambered in 30-06 last year. I love the gun, it shoots great and call me crazy but has much less recoil than I anticipated.

was planning on a model 93 or mark II. never shot .17 before, maybe I should.

Do you ever actually have any idea what you're talking about?

Seems to be plenty to me..

Plenty enough to kills hogs too if YOU'RE accurate.
