OH MY GOD YOU'RE GOING TO CARRY THAT WITHOUT HAVING 17,429 ROUNDS THROUGH IT!!!!! Knowing you, you will have at least a few hundred I'm sure anyway.

It will be shot before I carry it.

20,000 minimum with less than a .02% failure rate or I'm not even going to use it as a paperweight!

The Shield is a bit smaller than the c models in the other dimensions as well. Barrel is 1/2" shorter...

I like the XDs better. Trigger is better, sights are better, no thumb safety, etc.

Rumor is that Springfield is modifying the trigger on the XDs though, so I hopefully it keeps the same trigger pull when it returns. If not I may be keeping the Shield.

I do like the XDS trigger as well. Didn't know the Shield was a bit shorter.

Apex makes an awesome trigger kit for the M&Ps. Powder River Precision might be making something for the XDS too. Their trigger for the XDM is also awesome.

I'm not a fan of trigger mods on a carry gun, and I don't mind a 6lb trigger, as long as it's crisp and short ish.

They specifically have carry kits that put the pull to the nominal spec offered by the manufacturer that removes some of the crunchiness and such in a factory trigger.

What's the reason behind not being a fan?

I like to think that the manufacturer designed the geometry of the trigger they way they did for a reason.

Yes, on the side of being the cheapest, safest and easiest way to manufacture on a mass scale.

Doesn't mean things can't be polished or improved without messing with that geometry all that much. Both my M&P40c and XDM have crunchy triggers. The kits I have shot on other people's guns barely reduce the pull, but improve the feeling and reset of the trigger.

To each his own I guess.

Springfield just updated their site. They don't have a fix yet...

That's just great...

Here I was thinking I'd be getting my gun back in a week or so, based on their original timeline, and now it is just sitting somewhere in the same state I sent it in.

I wonder why it is that their XDS' have this problem, but the XD's and XDM's dont. You would imagine they would use a similar system, just making it skinnier.

I could only assume. I just don't understand why they didn't just copy what they knew worked...

I'm not sure. The XDs is actually a double action pistol, very much like a Glock on the inside.
