Third Term?

He can try, all we can do is hope the people are not dumb enough to allow this to happen.
If so, we are all screwed.

Hasn't the same guy been introducing the same bill for over a decade now trying to repeal the 22nd Amendment?

Yes, and this story leaves that out.

I also found this right above the picture towards the bottom.

Unless you click on the word "" near the end of the first paragraph, then it takes you here: http://www.mediaite.com/online/democ...l-term-limits/

I read the article but missed the part where Obama is quoted as saying anything about a third term. Anyone have a link to that?

I blame the Republican party for not getting Obama out. Obama was as ripe for getting knocked out of office as George W was after his first term.

Trotting Romney out (and the Dems when they brought out Heinz-Kerry) to go against a sitting POTUS with extremely low approval ratings and managing to lose was a sign of incompetence.

The problem I see is that too many in both the Christian Coalition and the Tea Party would rather sit home and let the Republicans lose rather than support a candidate that doesn't 100% match their punch card. And if you allow the party to match either of their punch cards, there is little chance attract swing voters.

The Dems had this problem when George W was in office, now the Republicans have had this problem going against Obama.

The problem is the Old Guard Republicans like McCain and Graham. They're so engrained in the establishment and dedicated to keeping the status quo that they attack true conservatives like Ted Cruz while spouting the Democrat's talking points. True conservatives that stick to true conservative principals are starting to take over now. It's scaring the hell out of the old timer GOP members because they refuse to believe that there is any way to win other than becoming more like Democrats. They're idiots and a perfect example of why term limits should be instated on members of congress.

I have always thought the term limit's for congress and the president should be four terms with a election every two years.

When your job is on the line more often you make sure to get results to keep that job.

You would have to set-up some campaign limits or something to that effect. Otherwise they wouldn't actually do their jobs but instead be on the campaign trail 24/7.

Obama for life. Think about money saved on not having elections. No campaign finance mess, no political favor to honor for their campaign contributions. It's a win win win win x10000000.

Two month campaign limit to keep our attention deprived society happy. One single election/ticket for every elected official set on one single day to keep the complexity and cost down.
I am thinking November 12th because it would give the Federal workers a day off(Veterans day)before the need to work there butt off. Employers would be encouraged(not supported by any federal funding) to give November 12th off so employees could make sure to vote.

It is far from perfect and sure lots of people would complain at first. I imagine the networks would spike there prices and the job market would receive a temporary spike in the process.
I doubt any of those on either side would pass something that would cause them to work harder towards a better result unless the public demanded it.

All current terms would be expanded or shortened till the agreed two year mark of say November 12th 2016 via the bill. A restriction on a withdrawal of the two year term would be placed at 8 years. With this vital restriction they would not be able to vote it back to 4,6,8 year elections until 2024 per the restriction within the law.

This would only effect elected officials. Laws and such in your local community/state could be voted on throughout the year.
