No, because hospital are required to treat people in life or death situations regardless of their ability to pay. Since the health care providers are often unable to recover the costs for this they must pass these costs along to those of us that can pay for health care. So are you OK with paying extra to treat these people?

Yes, how liberal of me to want to tax the poor... oh wait...

I am not opposed to a tax/penalty/fee on people who could buy health insurance but choose not to, to help cover the costs if they show up at an emergency room.

I am fine with helping people who are truly in need. I am not ok with myself getting a lower level of health care for a higher price so every other lazy slob can get the same level of coverage that I get while doing nothing.

I recently purchased a new house. Before I purchased it I did a credit report and I payed off every last bit of debt that I had. Once I knew that I was free and clear I made the purchase. That is how responsible people do it. This country should be run the same way. Hike your pants up and work hard to pay off what you already owe before taking on more financial responsibilities. I would be happy to pay more in taxes to lower our debt but I am not willing to pay more to just go further in the hole.

I am not willing to compromise the quality of my family's health care and pay more so other people who made poor choices can get health care. I don't give a shit if that make me greedy.

How come it's greedy to want to keep what you earn but not greedy to want to take from someone else?

Then it's the hospital's RESPONSIBILITY to get the money from THEM... Not ME...

If you had 5 maxed out credit cards and you owed 200k on a house that was worth 125k and could barely afford the payments how much would you give to a charity for the underprivileged citizens of Detroit?

So are you OK with hospitals dumping the "lazy slobs" on the sidewalk out front if their bill exceeds their ability to pay?

Throwing in that " 'murica" pretty much nullifies your argument and makes it hard for anyone to take your points seriously.

No, but usually that term gets thrown out by serious libtards that have a real disdain not only for this country, but for people that are actually still proud if it- regardless of the mess that it is currently in, and use it for insulting and belittling their argument opponents when they have no valid argument left. Can't be taken seriously once they resort to that.

Relax though- I wasn't calling YOU a libtard.
