what's the current gas tax, and what is his proposed raise to?

is the proposed changes to remove income tax and increase sales tax a near wash for someone that lives in state? Seeing that we get a fair amount of tourism, that makes sense to me.

I'm not opposed to paying a little more for my gas tax, as long as the money goes towards keeping roads decent. I don't mind paying more sales tax as long as it's close to a wash from the income tax that gets taken out of my paycheck.

I haven't heard anything really bad about him, he seems to be trying to dig us out of the granhole-m.

all I have to say is, NO MORE MOLE.

Here is an explanation on his bullshit gas tax

I never heard his proposal to raise sales tax was tied to lower income taxes. That may be something I can agree on.

For example, in addition to the sales tax component mentioned above (which at a pump price of $3 per gallon takes around $700 million annually from motorists, none of which goes for roads), some of the remaining money is diverted to subsidize city buses, and some is wasted by mandating above-market wages on road projects through the state's “prevailing wage” law. Another 7/8 of a cent per gallon tax originally intended for leaking underground fuel tank cleanups was diverted in a 2004 “fund raid” to other government spending, and continues to be used that way.

Before reaching deeper into the pockets of motorists, Michigan needs to correct these abuses.
