Exclamation gauge problem

I just bought a 98 jeep Cherokee 4x4 and the gauge cluster works when it wants but the lights on it work when I got the jeep the fuse under the hood was bad so I changed it and it worked just fine now today nothing if anyone can help that would be awesome thanks for looking

no one has any ideas im outa ideas my self I have changed the gauge cluster cheeked all grounds and yet nothing iv been told the ignition has something to do with it but idk how it could

I was having some problems with gauges in my yj and used electrical contact cleaner on the flexible circuit board around the gauges and all light bulbs

Check if your interior dimmer switch is working. Could be the problem..

Couple things. Dash light out...you mean the illumination? If so, check your exterior running lights. If they are out also, then it's the fuse. Dash illumination and rear running lights are on the same fuse so you know when the rear lights are out.

If you are talking all the other lights, then there is a common issue with corrosion on the dash connector. You have to pull the cluster and look at the connector. It will be green and yucky. Clean it with a small wire brush and electrical contact cleaner, use a small pick to tighten up the contacts and grease it up with dielectric grease and put it back together. There is a TSB for this issue.

Since you said the gauges work when they want, I would lean toward the corroded contacts.
