Default Goodmorning

Hi, I'm Mike from central Wisconsin. More or less new to off roading. I have been a truck guy in the past but got into autocrossing cars and stuff like that but have gotten sick of the competition all the time and trying to get back to my truck and country roots. I have a 01 suburban 1/2 ton. 5.3 with 4wd that Im considering using for some light to medium offroading and mudding. Has 250k miles but has been very reliable for my wife and 3 kids in the year weve owned it It does need a little work though. Has a whinning up front in 4wd . Looking for.some advice on if its work it to lift a little? I have a low budget and its paid for so thats my biggest deal. Input?

Also, I can do all my own work as I went to school 5 years ago for auto mechanics, so that does factor into my budget leaving me more room for parts since the labor is free2o

Also the truck doesnt have much rust just a little on the pass rocker from the sidestep. Trans shifts perfect and the engine runs great. A little lifter noise at cold start but what 5.3 doesnt?
This will be my DD in a few months as Im selling my car so my wife can get a grand prix .
