Default 400ex whoops

So I picked up a 400ex a few months ago on a trade.

Brought it to Dave *Beast on the board* over at Powers Motorsports/David Allen Racing in Fremont and had him give it a once over. Replaced a few things, and he told me my rear axle bearings were toast. He guessed they'd last 2-3 rides.

So Fast forward to this weekend, I'm beating on the thing, hit a jump, came down and the back end started making a bit of noise. Brought it in the shop, and this is what came out..

I think Beast's guestimation was right. Off to buy a new rear bearing carrier.

Those bearings and carriers have been self destructing themselves from the mid 80's... Look for the tapered roller bearing upgraded carrier... Your pocket will appreciate it. Brgs used to run almost 40/each, plus seals and if the spacer in between gets dimensionally narrowed, you'll be eating those brgs steady...

Is that considered the tapered roller bearing upgraded carrier that you referenced earlier, or am I going to be replacing this in a year?

Nope the one you show is a double brg carrier. I believe it has 4 Brgs. Should be a good one. Anything is an improvement over stock... The tapered roller one has exactly that tapered Brgs like old wheel Brgs, that you set preload on. Also a good unit... You should be happy.

Muffler Bearings
These Muffler Bearings are a MUST HAVE for all ATV owners!

Made of a super light, indestructable alloy called Unobtanium. No other brands come close to the weight and durability of these bearings.

Benefits of these Muffler Bearings are that they counteract the exhaust sound levels by oscilating under vibration and creating a "white noise" effect, reducing sound levels up to 48dB.

Simply insert the Unobtanium Muffler Bearings into the end of your exhaust muffler.

Will fit any exhaust system. Just choose the correct size based on the diameter of your muffler core.

That's nothing when I had mine I rode mine so far past due you could feel it wobble side to side and it ruined my axle. All because I was lazy. I also got the LSR carrier and it has been going strong for 3+ years with my friend who bought it.
